Blizzard & Nabers Lawyers Bring Halloween Fun To Houston’s JFK Elementary
Halloween is a fun time for kids across the country, as many dress up in their favorite costumes and get buckets full of candy. As a member of the Board of Directors for the Houston Trial Lawyers Association (HTLA), Blizzard & Nabers Attorney Katherine Cornell also gives of her time to the group’s charitable arm, the Houston Trial Lawyers Foundation (HTLF).
As part of her service with HTLF, Ms. Cornell dressed up like Cinderella and helped to man a special booth at JFK Elementary School’s Halloween Carnival. The children loved seeing her dressed as one of Disney’s most well known princesses. This year the group’s booth also had a dunk tank.
The attorneys of the Houston Trial Lawyers Foundation enjoy sponsoring events all year long at one of our community’s local schools in a low income, at risk area. In addition to the Halloween fun, lawyers from across the city adopt classrooms for the holidays and bring the students gifts and lunches to their classes.
John F. Kennedy Elementary is close to four miles from Downtown Houston and sits in the middle of Independence Heights, which was the first Black City in Texas. The school’s creed is “ We commit ourselves to break the cycle of underdevelopment that restrains so many of our children of color. We will disprove the myth that these children cannot learn at high levels and demonstrate their true capabilities.”
